Epic Cycling Adventure at the Myra Canyon Trestles

One of the 18 trestles on the Myra Canyon Trail.

Things to Know Before You Go

The Myra Canyon Trestles near Kelowna, British Columbia are extremely popular so plan to get an early start when you visit. You will want to go the the Myra Station Parking Lot entrance which is the closest to the trestles. Towards the end the road is gravel and can be rough. If you have a short amount of time you can see 6 trestles and a tunnel within the first mile.

The best way to explore the trestles is by bicycle. Make sure to make a reservation ahead of time so you won’t be disappointed. Myra Canyon Bike Rentals provided me a bike to use as part of my press trip. I highly recommend them as they are the only company located on site. It is so convenient you park and then walk over and pick up your bike and when completed turn it back in. There is no waiting for a van to bring you up or wait to take you back down.

Great Views

I just loved this trail and it was one of my favorite things I did on this trip. You are high up in the canyon but the trail is totally flat with very little elevation change (2 degrees and not steep climbs). It was perfect for me who had not been on a bike in sometime. Everywhere you stop along this trail are lovely views of Myra Canyon. In many places you can see trestles across the canyon making for some great photos.

Special Experience

What makes this trail so special are the 18 trestles and two tunnels that you experience on the 7.5 mile trail. Along the way are many historical and informative signs that give information about the area. It is really hard to put into words how awesome this is.

The trestles are so inviting.

Press Trip. Thank you Tourism Kelowna and Myra Canyon Bike Rentals for setting up this trip and providing bicycles.

  5. I love that every now and then you cross a trestle – it’s a little bonus to break up the journey of the road. Such an interesting route, and a bonus that it’s flat. I like cycling, but I’m not hardcore, I’d much rather just amble along.
